Collage has always been a part of my life. It is a collection of images in my mind that when assembled with paper or fabric or digital images create a story that makes sense.
My mother taught me to love paper and glue from an early age. She would sneak a menu from a restaurant or clip images from magazines she thought were interesting and decoupage them onto weathered barn board.
I use many different forms of media.
My favourite is making collages from “found papers”. These are everyday papers that have been discarded or buried in a drawer. I find papers at the edges of parks, in my husband’s pockets and from boxes of ephemera I have saved throughout the years. These papers I love to collage in amuse bouche, tiny or micro collages that are roughly 3″x3″.
Fabric is also another media I like to use creating scenes or abstracts with fabric scraps.
My time in my studio is spent with mood boards, cutting out images, creating stories, and mixing different media elements. Cutting paper is very mindful and meditative.
Super thankful for the supporting of my work.
